On Thursday 27th April, Mortimer Spinks held the 6th Annual Technology Industry event, at Ham Yard Hotel, London.
The event celebrated its sixth year, launching the annually released Technology Industry Survey, produced as always with our friends at ComputerWeekly.com. This year we captured the views and opinions of more than 2000 technology professionals, on how we can work towards closing the technology and digital skills gap with our #FutureTechPeople campaign.
The theme of this year's event was digital disruption in the UK workforce, specifically analysing the skills shortage, of which the importance cannot be underestimated considering how rapidly technology is evolving. For example, there are roles that exist today which 10 years ago no one had even heard of, such as an app developer or social media manager.
The event was split into four parts;
Four key industry speakers showcasing 'Inspiring New UK Tech'. Key findings from the survey and the launch of its new website with facts, tips and advice for businesses, employees, students and parents on closing the skills gap. Four panel speakers discussing 'How to Close the UK Technology and Digital skills gap' and finally, an audience Q&A.
